Overview
The Third Age Rock Orchestra is a band of former professional and semi-professional musicians, with a good mix of skilled amateurs. Based on the Northern Beaches, we are associated with the University of the Third Age which is a charitable organisation focussed on activities for retired people. We mainly play rock'n’roll and ballads from the late 1950’s to 2000’s, covering anything from Elvis to Dire Straits. We also play some originals written by band members. We’ve played and filled a number of venues including Dee Why RSL, Palm Beach RSL, Pittwater RSL and Gosford RSL as well as smaller venues. We have a rock’n'roll core of twin guitars, bass, drums, keys and sax complemented by players from the various sections of a symphony orchestra - wind, strings, brass and percussion.
