Aljamía is a high-energy music ensemble dedicated to the sounds of Mediaeval Europe and the Mediterranean. Inspired by the era of La Convivencia, our performances bridge the cultures of the Middle East and the West through the shared language of folk music. We bring history to life using a unique array of period instruments—including the Oud, bagpipes, violin and percussion. From the courtly melodies of the Cantigas de Santa Maria to the driving rhythms of the village square, Aljamía offers a window into a forgotten past of multicultural wisdom and beauty. Perfect for: Mediaeval Fairs, Cultural Festivals, and Community Council Events. We offer both high-impact stage shows and mobile "roving" performances that bring an authentic atmosphere to any venue.
